Dr. M. Balakrishnan
Dr. Balakrishnan is an Expert of CAD for VLSI and Computer Architecture, has more than 25 years of research experience in this area. His other research areas are High-level synthesis, High-level design & modeling, FPGA based design & design tools, Hardware-software co-design. M. Balakrishnan is currently a Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at I.I.T. Delhi. He has held visiting positions in University of Guelph, Canada, University of Syracuse, USA, University of Kiel, Germany and University of Dortmund, Germany
Dr. Balakrishnan obtained his B.E. (Hons.) in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India with the 1st rank in 1977 and Ph.D from IIT Delhi in 1985. He has published 45 papers in leading international journals like IEEE Trans. on CAD and ACM Trans, on Design Automation and conferences including DAC, ICCAD, CODES and ASP-DAC.
He is also a reviewer for many leading journals including IEEE Trans. on CAD, IEEE Trans. on VLSI, ACM Trans, on Design Automation and conferences including DAC, ODES, ISSS.
Dr. Balakrishnan has been a recipient of the NRDC invention award and also he was the Program Chair of VLSI Design 1995, an International conference held in Jan 1995 in New Delhi, India. He has been a key member of the VDTT group and was involved in starting the very successfully industry sponsored interdisciplinary program on VLSI Design, Tools and Technology.
Dr. Balakrishnan worked as a Scientist in CARE, IIT Delhi from 1977 to 1985 where he was involved in designing and implementing real-time DSP systems. He is also an expert member on the Technology Committee of the Department of Posts, Govt. of India.
